What is Angel Tree?
Angel Tree is a unique holiday assistance program that connects a generous individual or group with a deserving child (or “Angel”) in need. Angel adoption takes place after Thanksgiving for several weeks in the Midland/Odessa area.
Every Christmas there are children lacking vital needs because their families are struggling financially and cannot afford the expense. The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program has been running for more than 30 years to ensure that these children have a wonderful holiday season with their families. Many children in our community return to school after the holidays in worn out uniforms, insufficient winter clothing, or needing school supplies replenished. Angel Tree is a traditional Salvation Army program designed to enable community members to personally provide these vital items to specific children in need.
How can I adopt an angel?
Simply come into one of our Odessa locations and choose an angel, or multiple angels, from our christmas tree. Be sure to let us know your name and which angels you'll be sponsoring that way we can keep record of it.
Go shopping for your angel
Each angel represents a child in need. Included in their tag are their clothing and shoe size, a Christmas wish, and a need. It is completely up to you with what you buy them. You do not have to get them everything on their list. There is no limit to what you can spend however we ask that you at least provide them one toy and an article of clothing. Gift receipts are acceptable.
Put all purchased items in a bag and place the angel tag inside or staple/tape it to the outside.
When are my "angels" due?
Please return gifts to the credit union NO LATER THAN Friday December 14, 2018. This date may seem a little early, but this is how we can make sure that ALL the children and elderly receive their gifts back in time.
Thank you so much for helping us provide Christmas to a child in need!
